Naturally, if he disagrees with a liberal, he's lying.

He's talking about the overall economy. Given his background he would seem to be credible.

"I made a huge down payment on my house at a fixed rate of 6% and I am straining."

Get a job, Moonbeam.

He's lying to you. I made a huge down payment on my house at a fixed rate of 6% and I am straining. The cost of gas and food has strained my budget dramatically. I doubt I am the only one.

I don't get this. My first and second houses both had interest rates just short of 10%. It is a cost of living.

Many people buy more house than they can afford (which is a good strategy when the market is heading the right way). It is ridiculous for anyone to assume that food and gas prices are just going to stay the same year after year. We've known for 30 years that eventually gasoline would go up (after all, that's the reason the Republicans have been trying to get more drilling underway for years).

Just suck it up. Economic cycles happen.
