When you have a voluntary army and a war that doesnt demand sacrifice at home, you dont get folks giving more than a cursory glance to the sacrifices of our troops. The general attitude is that they are volunteers and they have made their choice, a noble on imo, but viewed as lackeys by others.

I wish it were as you're saying.

But the reality is that it is a left/right thing. The Left disrespects the troops, just as many did during Vietnam. It is much more prevalent today.

When I read the post regarding "spitting on the troops" I had not seen the offensive piece on Hannity/Colmes from UCSB. CA is the very worst of the worst, but the attitude isn't isolated.

Most folks however are ambivalent.

No one is ambivalent about the people in the military. None of us want them harmed in any way. Why the hell do you think the left wants the war ended? Protecting our soldiers is at or very near the top of the list. That girl who spit on the soldier is a college kid trying to be cool. No one ever said teenagers make the smartest moves.

And Hannity is an utter asshole for showing the clip and then besmirching all lefties with it.
