Two-thirds of U.S. corporations paid no federal income taxes between 1998 and 2005, according to a new report from Congress.
...
Collectively, the companies reported trillions of dollars in sales, according to GAO's estimate.

"It's shameful that so many corporations make big profits and pay nothing to support our country," said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., who asked for the GAO study with Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

WHAT A STUPID REMARK.

There was nothing in the article that even remotely suggested these corporations are reporting "taxable income". I own several corporate interests which would never, ever pay corporate income taxes -- because they're S Corps and LLCs.

In additional, small C-Corps who receive competent tax advice NEVER report taxable income.

This is such a typical bogus liberal article. Slightly factual, but totally as expected. Intentional misrepresentation. I'm sure it will be being cited by the idiot liberals all over the Internet as proof of Bush's badness.

JF, classic quote that David already pasted, but it's worth copying-n-pasting again:

> "It's shameful that so many corporations make big profits and pay nothing to support our country," said Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., who asked for the GAO study with Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

How many individuals like Gates and Buffet paid their "fair share"? They even admit it in an attempt to raise taxes on everyone but themselves.
