CJ, > Moving the goal posts. Again. It is a favorite of yours.

The one moving the goal posts is you, given that David's statement is factually accurate: "There is plenty of history to support the claim that Christ lived at one time."

You are of the opinion that the only "history" that is acceptable is that written by non-Christians.

Its only natural that most ancient writings about Jesus were written by Christians. They are the people motivated to write about him.

However, Jesus and his brother James (identified as Jesus brother) are mentioned by the prominent Jewish historian Josephus, who is thought not to have been a Christian. Its thought the passage which deals with Jesus has been altered by Christians, but the fact that there was a brief mention there is not in doubt.

The Gospel of Matthrew records that even among those who saw Jesus after the resurrection "some doubted". Conflicts between prominent Christian figures (Paul vs Barnabas, Peter, James) in the first generation after Jesus life are also mentioned in the NT. The presence of such "warts and all" type information actually is testimony to the sources accuracy and timeliness. If the NT had been written at a relatively late date solely as propaganda, why include any such material?

There isn't "plenty of history", just some writings by his followers.

I would argue if he had followers that is pretty good evidence of his existence.

The New Testament was written shortly after Christs' existence which gives it some credibility -- about as much credibility as one can get for events that occurred at that time.

Now, I don't have much knowledge of this subject and don't claim to, so I'll leave it for others who are more knowledgeable than I am. But I recognize someone being argumentative when I see it.
