A little good news for KFlex:

www8.zdnet.com

"..... We also found that K56Flex modems generally performed better than the X2 lot in our Impairment and Network Model tests, although there were exceptions such as the US Robotics Courier External and the Global Village Teleports, which matched K56Flex speed.

But half of the X2 modems faired much better than the K56Flex modems on the File Types 1, 2, 3, and 5 tests. While these file transfers were over clean lines and do not represent a real world situation, this information used in conjunction with the Impairment and Net- work Model Coverage tests yield a better picture of how the modems will perform in various situations.

Lastly, there is one set of results that we will not speculate on, that is that some modems' initial connect rates are much higher than their average throughputs. So, when we connected, our dial-up networking reported our initial connect speed as a certain rate, but the modem actually transmitted files at much lower rates. Most of these performance differences were observed in X2 modems. Only the Diamond SupraExpress external (not the internal) 56KFlex modem display this trait."

Glenn-

Sorry for the possibly ignorant question, but why would ASND sell out at 48 when it was recently near 80 and in all likelihood will return to that vicinity in the next year or so? Are the fundamentals so changed now from when it traded at 80? I read the takeover price to sales figures posted earlier and 48 may be consistent with those numbers, but CSCO has fully recovered and COMS has recovered 50% towards their highs while ASND is near a two year low. Seems to me that ASND will fetch more than 48.

Glenn, just read your comments inre a buyout.
Don't you think the most damning evidence of all are the firm "no comment" and "declines to comment"?

It has been my experience that this is WSspeak for YES.<G>

I've been bought out several times (USRX, UUNET, CSCC, etc) and this "feels" VERY similar to the feel of those stocks just prior to buyout.

Do you really think 48 bucks a share?? Seems rich to me, although I'd gladly take the money and run.<G>
How are you getting that figure?
