OT: Dump the clutch at 8000 RPM? I wonder how many times you can do that before needing a new clutch. 20?

The mechanical stresses on the engine, drivetrain and vehicle frame have to be incredible. Do it too many times and you might find that the doors no longer open/close properly.

OT: Totally agree. As I said in one of my posts that I never track my car. My car is ridiculous. No. Totally ridiculous. A result of an early and temporary mid-life crisis. It was better than putting the money in to stocks and watching them collapse. My crisis is over, but the car is still in my driveway. I love it, but it's not me. I'm reluctant to try to bother to sell it right now.

I have always wanted to try and launch my car, but I do not want to pay for a new clutch. The tiptronics are where it's at for 0-60. However, the rolling 20-80 is still a lot of fun! With respect to handing, I have had a friend comment that her Corvette could not do what my 911 could do in the hills.

Then again, you could just be a jealous BMW guy <g>. If I were to do it again, I would get an older M3 or Subaru and beat the heck out of it at the track.
