John, Government built Highways weren't my concern. They were brought up in a conversation concerning the question of what is the definition of a free market. In response I've noted that their existence isn't the product of free markets, nor do they operate as one. This should make some bit of a case for those of you who don't get the value I place in Free Markets for the people, and you should be glad then, that I've said it a couple of times now!

I can argue that they cost too much and often are in bad condition, but they work pretty well for us. There are proposals out there for private roads, or public/private partnerships at this point, which just might be better, but as I say, this is an example of a government natural monopoly, if you will (and I don't, necessarily), which I don't think is killing us economically.

Freedom Works very well,

Dan B.

I have found this to be one of the best examples of the ignorance of economics that abounds on this thread. This ignorance leads to an inability to analyze what Obama and his beliefs mean to the country.

How do you propose to move goods and services to consumers without government built highways?

The US government doesn't build highways. At least not yet anyway. Private enterprise does with private capital. The taxpayer pays for them. This is not what a Marxist believes to be the correct way to accomplish that task.
