Bush giving a very good address now, gracious to all and paving the way for transition.

Who knows, civility could actually catch on in Washington, LOL. That would be a victory of hope over experience for sure.

Arnold can't run for president without a constitutional amendment that would allow foreign-born individuals to become president. Won't happen.

Well, if it did... at least it would stop all the birth certificate nonsense <vbg>

Interesting idea. Popular actor become governor of California going for the Presidency. Think it would work?

I don't know, though. What do the Californians on the thread think of Arnie as governor? I haven't noticed much publicity recently, I believe he initially promised an inclusive style but then retreated to base somewhat... also a familiar story. But I've not heard much news on him for the last few years, other than the budget problems.

Dale,

I read your post as asking for someone to lead the republican party and bring them back to the center. I know that Arnold can't run for president but I think he is one that could lead the Republican party back towards a more centrist position, if not by running for president but by putting some policies in place that would attract the moderates back to the party. I think that at least some of the moderates that are now democrats in office in the past, might have gone to the republican side but as of right now, are turned off by their small tent state of mind. Arnold possibly has the star appeal to get some in the party to listen.
