Dave,
since the area of the 300mm wafer is larger the output will increas. Bear in mind SEMI is pushing all equipment manufacturers to keep the foot print and output of the 300mm tools comparable with 200mm.

The unknown at this point is what kind of yeld will the 300mm line achive.

How are they theoretical? Unless the size of the die itself increases(which I have not heard but am not an expert on this) output will increase by 2.25X. This is fact, not theory. Andrew Vance from the General Lithography thread could elaborate further on this.
