Huh? We agree on something...again.

(Since when is sifting through the government's budget with a fine toothed comb, with an eye out to cutting the old shibboleths of 'waste/fraud/abuse' a BAD thing?)

Especially in this time of maximum financial pain (and world record government deficits!) we need to be looking for saving money EVERYWHERE in government.

How have other Presidents BEFORE been able to plan a budget? Did they send 450++++ people into all areas to ferret out the info out? Or did they rely on people (bureaucrats who have worked in the government for years – we taxpayers pay them you know to do things like this…) to do that job? The Cabinet officers are to oversee these things….And the Senate and House are to oversee all of it….

NOW, if these 450++++ people went into the House and Senate offices and went through those papers and agreements with a fine toothed comb, I might be able to see it….There certainly have been enough earmarks over the years and for what exactly????? We could start with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd’s offices and throw in Robert Byrds office for good measure….oh, yes, add Freezer Jefferson’s office for good measure.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Senior politicians, former ambassadors, top business leaders and lawyers will lead special teams into US government agencies to prepare the ground for Barack Obama's presidency his office said.

An army of specialists -- including senior members of former president Bill Clinton's administration -- is set to fan out across in the Treasury, State Department and Pentagon.

Even the White House will be scrutinized as the 450-strong transition team goes through more than 100 departments and agencies.

"The Agency Review teams will complete a thorough review of key departments, agencies and commissions of the United States government as well as the White House," the Obama team said in a statement.

The aim is to provide Obama and his vice president, Joe Biden, "with information needed to make strategic policy, budgetary and personnel decisions prior to the inauguration."
