Worse: something like 22% of the population would *still* vote for Bush, if opinion polls are to be believed. They're so enjoying the smoking ruin of a country he's left us that they'd vote for him a third time.

I suspect most of them would claim that Bush had nothing to do with the events of the past 8 years. Talk about clinging to one's delusions.

Stay on point.

Bush can't string a sentence together. True but irrelevant.

Bush is a dolt. Equally true, equally irrelevant.

Iraq and Islamofascism: Nothin' to do with anything under discussion.

People who voted for Bush: This sort of sentence plays well to the cheap seats, draws recommendations, but is basically just ranting and is utterly beside the point.

The point is that Shrub didn't really have all that much to do with the housing bubble, at least compared with Greenslime, our esteemed congressional delegations, crooked morgage brokers, ineffective regulators, and The Most Self-Indulgent And Despicable Generation Ever.

This formulation probably doesn't gather the accolades of the crowd but that doesn't detract from its accuracy.
