You're right, Glenn, about the IL legislature. I was thinking of the certification by the IL Secretary of State. My mistake.

And, you put forth a good argument about the attacks on Blago et al. Still, it seems that some of the other Dem miscreants, such as Jefferson and Wrangle, should also be getting the same treatment. Granted, they're in the House, not Senate where the 60/40 majority is so important. Still...

Glenn,
You are correct about Blog being indicted....when it happens it couldn't happen IMO to a more deserving individual.

However, you claim that the Dems were willing to accept Burris isn't the case! It was the Dems who attempted to reject him, but once the Ill. politicians approved Burris they really had no option but to accept him. In the past, Congress has attempted and in some cases rejected elected candidates from taking their seats, however, in the case of Senator Smoot(REP-Utah)the multi-year process in attempting to reject him finally ended in failure and he was seated. The excuse being used against Smoot would be a difficult reason to use now, and in the case of Burris due cause for rejecting him would be difficult, that is until now being actual due cause to kick him all the way back to IL. IMO, his days are numbered and your suggestion for the next replacement makes sense.
