Not really.. the banks aren't holding (don't want to hold) these mortgages but packag them as I guess ... 'mortgage backed securities' :O) but there is that nasty 300K gap in what the collateral is estimated to be worth.. It's not simply the values of a house but the question of the ability of the mortgages to be carried (repaid in a steady fashion) by the homeowner.. TBS
