>>Where in the world do you find 'democracies'? I live in the US and we have a republic. Democracies devolve into mob rule, don't they? Which countries have democracies?<<

First lesarn the meaning of the words you use. There are a zillions of types of Republics and democracies and in fact you can pretty much use each word for the other.

Yes, I know a Republic is often use colloquially to mean more of an indirect democracy and democracy as more dirct, but there are a zillion definitions of each.

The primary thesis of each is that the government is run by the people and not an authoritarian individual or group.

Yes, we went from a country which could be called a Republic (sort of like the senate) and changed into more of a democracy like how we elect the president (Jacksonian democracy) where people rule more directly.

But Republic or democracy the thesis in both cases is the people rule themselvs.

That was a big step for mankind and people are silly to make light of it or parse words when discussing the idea of people ruling themselves.

>>I really want to know what logic one uses to NOT volunteer money that you wish to force others to pay.<<

IMO, your logic is disorganized.

Here is my logic:

First we are a democractic society and the society gets to decide who pays what.

You know a better system, then tell me, as I am all ears!

We evolved for millions of years living in tribal groups of probably about 40 individuals and did a lot of fighting with each other and the tribe was ruled by a few leaders or leader whom everyone had to obey.

Then we settled down about 15,000 years ago, but most people lived like peasnats at best and slaves at worst in abject poverty and with few rights if any.

All through the Dark Ages life was horrible for most people. Fighting everywhere, feudal lords abusing the peasants, etc.

Then a few intellectuals in American figured out democracy and since then our lives have gotten better and better. But democracy is messy, but still we live better than anyone ever did before us and have a lot of freedom.

So you complain about somethings you do not like, and overlook the most important thing which is our wonderful democratic country which forces compromise.

I give tons of money to people beside my taxes. Money never meant much to me. The manner in which I live my life is my most important concern and that means being as kind, honest and generous as I can be.

And I rasied my two duagters to be the same way and am proud to say they are also kind and generous.

The only thing I never allowed at all were racism, sexism and other types of bad behavior like cruety to animals.
