"This is a state that was built with government programs, financed by massive federal military and aerospace spending and state funding of local projects" and of the community college/state university/University of California schools, not the least of which are Davis and Riverside, from whom most of our agricultural blessing flow.

What a piece of crap. Blame it on the "Extreme Right Wing". I have worked for government and I have seen the waste first hand and it is incredible. I can walk into any sizable government office and just do my business and see the waste. I have a Government office in the building where I work. The main occupation of the emplyoees seems to be break. If I can see this why can't the people who are runnig these offices. All they need to do is open their eyes and fire the deadwood and the problem will be solved. lj

The world's eighth-largest economy has just gone belly-up. When midnight tolled on Tuesday night with legislators and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger still deadlocked over how to resolve the state's staggering $24 billion budget shortfall, California became unable to pay its bills AIG screwed up, and Obama gives the company $ 180+ billion and let AIG management to have parties in Beverly Hills. California has a budget shortfall, and yes, Californias pay taxes, but Obama let the state hung dry. Good Job President Obama. Where is you compassionate message?
