Trey, Curl or anyone else...Help me understand the following:

AT up $1 7/8
ADTN up $2 7/8
ALA up $1
AMTX up $1 1/8
AWRE up $1 1/8
ORCTF up $2 1/2
PAIR up $1 13/16

AND THEN WE HAVE OUR WSTL DOWN $3/16

Yet only after it was up over $3

Number 1:

WHY? (the above)

Well, I guess the good news is, for the first time since the AMTX merger announcement, AMTX is within 90% of WSTL's value.

All I see are announcements after announcements from EVERYBODY EXCEPT WSTL??????? Is WSTL in the ADSL arena or what??????

Number 2.

If ALA got DSLAM from BC what exactly did WSTL get from BC?..."Bell Canada Launches Immediate ADSL Service Using Westell 2.2Mbps
Modems; Alcatel likely for DSLAM Contract". What exactly is this worth to WSTL???????

Number 3.

Can someone remind me with hard facts why I should own WSTL over ALA? It seems to me that when it comes down to it, ALA is ALWAYS chosen over WSTL. Is WSTL superior to ALA or not?

Number 4.

If BC was one of the 3, we are in big trouble. Is Seamans lying? Why would WSTL do major hiring? I have to believe that there are big orders coming in if WSTL is on such a hiring campaign (unless they stopped)? Tell me SEAMANS isn't lying and that before my retirement years (30+ yrs from now) SOMEONE important will announce something that has the seven letters WESTELL in it and it also has lots of these...$$$$ in it too!

Thanks in advance...I think?

My recommendation to anyone playing this market (as I am) is to spread your money around. Stocks I am loading up on now are PAIR, CSCO, ADTN, ADCT, and WSTL. ASND also if it drops under 25$ as I suspect it will. These are the primary players and should cover just about every aspect of the high speed internetwork arena. I am very optimistic that these stocks will really start to take off in 1998 and post huge gains (3, 4, 5 X current prices). Of those I mentioned, Westell is the most questionable based on fundamentals, but trials with GTE and other RBOC's could help make WSTL a very big winner. I am most bullish on Pairgain at current prices. In any case, I wish you the best of luck.

bill and/or Trey: Two quick points from the CC

1. Contemplated mergers and/or acquisitions. Anything come to mind?

2. Possible future public or private financing. I will put my expertise to work on this issue and its implications.

P.S. Congrats to PAIR for landing US West, although it *was* expected.

Good Luck To Each And All

Curly
