I don't know who you think ever said the welfare state was free. I've always said I'm for much higher taxes. I like social services, but I want to pay for them- and I want YOU to pay for them too. So welcome. Hope your wallet has some cash in it. The only problem is that this is most assuredly not what the Democrats and Obama are currently implementing. You are getting the social services that you want, but the costs are going to be paid for by a tiny percentage of the population (the very rich) and by your children and grandchildren. For most, this drastic increase in government services really is going to look free. That isnt a particularly good outcome over the long-term. Slacker

While I think you are unique in the wrongness of your thought - I never thought you were oblivious to the news. Your supreme leader promised as shown that no family making less than $250,000 per year would have to pay a single dime - not one dime more. Now I think that is/was a huge LIE and I think you are smart enough to know such. However - if the gullible of our society believe it - then they believe they are getting the welfare state for free. Obama lied on taxes and costs. The sooner it is admitted by him and his dogmatic followers the better we will be. If you read my post you will see I said a broad based tax increase is needed. You did read that did you not? We do want an honest debate - right?
