My ex-sister-in-law has an apartment on Williams St. with a stunning view of Cheesman Park. What struck me about Denver is how quickly the neighborhoods transition. Her place is what I'd call "zotzy" and yet it's only about 3 blocks off Colfax which is something less than zotzy.

...what they did with 16th st is very cool.

The 16th Street Mall is a very attractive "fix" to the former major downtown street, turning it into a pedestrian mall, with free buses running all day and into late night. Unfortunately, it has also become a dangerous area for muggings, panhandlers and other forms of mayhem. Not safe for most seniors, or women by themselves, after dark. A real shame!
