Kirk, Don uses photobucket.com to host his tables. I assume he also keeps them on his own computer. Using another hosting site like screencast.com is no different. I do the same thing: my charts are stored on my computer and backed up to two locations: my external HD and Mozy. If you copy and store one of Don's tables on your computer, it should not get lost. Using a hosting server is just for the convenience of embedding images in an SI post - it's not the primary storage location. Don can probably help you to locate his pre-2000 data

Kirk, Certainly there is risk in storing data on offsite servers, but this seems to be an ever increasing way to do things and I think it has just started. Perhaps many of these server facilities will go broke, merge with other companies, etc. Who knows, SI may disappear at any time. The competition is fierce, and I would imagine SI is fighting hard to stay "alive". SI's action in the recent server storage "change over" gives one that impression. First they advertise free storage from another company Fotothing which had trouble after just a few weeks. Then Fotothing recovered and after a few more weeks they disappeared, never to appear again as available to store images(images that have been stored previously at Fotothing are still shown on this site). Then SI was prompted by several members to "fix" this situation, but days and weeks went by when nothing was done. One of the solutions put forth was for SI to do the programming to replace the Fotothing storage capability on SIs own server(s). On the face of it this doesn't seem like a difficult problem, but SI has opted out of this solution. Now SI has pointed out that Jing has offered a free server capability that we can use so SI is off the hook for providing this service. Now we will see how long this situation lasts.
