Well, Ali, we have to call a spade a spade. This health care bill means ultimately higher entitlement spending. If it's what the American people want, then there's nothing wrong with that. Let's also not ignore the very real political ramifications of this. More entitlement spending is a Democratic priority. It is most definitely NOT a GOP priority. So to say that if they pass this bill, it will result in a permanent shift towards more entitlement spending, which is essence is more socialism, is just stating a fact.

Keep in mind that I am not passing judgement. I think insuring millions more is a noble goal. I just wish we could do it in a more market based manner. Likewise, I think enforcing individual savings for retirement through a government sponsored retirement plan is a great idea, but I just wish that they'd tag what I put into it to my social security number, so that I get a positive return on my investments, instead of using my money to pay for someone else's retirement.

It's just ideological differences and it's what makes this country's debates interesting. Nothing wrong with holding differing opinions.
