No other nation embargoes much of its own energy resources.

Virtually every oil exporting nation does. What do you think OPEC is for? To set production quotas; effectively "embargoing" what remains of their maximum production capacity. You think it would be smart for them to "drill baby drill" and flood the world market?

Repeating the same lie over and over doesn't make it true.

The risk of a bunch of an individual SPILL is greater for offshore drilling than for tanker deliveries, but offshore spills are mostly small and of little consequence. A tanker SPILL, even though they don't happen often is pretty much guaranteed to be a whopper and do vast environmental damage.

So you think the Gulf of Mexico spill is of little consequence? It would be refreshing to have you admit you were wrong.

But they require very high safeguards while using state of the art equipment. A couple of my cousins in Norway who work in the industry have told me what they spend on equipment to minimize accidents. The Norwegian government requires this. It's an ongoing process that gets looked at as new equipment becomes available.

We don't require that here sadly. Oversight here is very loose in comparison.
