"For example, I got a glimpse of how Hendrix or Van Halen might hear music (without mescaline)."

Not sure I'm w/ you on Van Halen but I hear you on the effect on listening to music in general.

So does Bill Hicks!

"You see, I think drugs have done some good things for us. I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor. Go home tonight. Take all your albums, all your tapes and all your CDs and burn them. 'Cause you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years were rrreal fucking high on drugs. The Beatles were so fucking high they let Ringo sing a few tunes."

I did mescaline twice about 25 years ago. I had not yet read Huxley's, "Doors of Perception", but I knew a little about it. All I can say it that those two experiences changed the way I looked at the world. Forever.

And I never had an interest in doing it again. I took all that I need from those two experiences. I learned more than words could express.

The Doors of Misperception have opened wide!

That thread is proof that pot should be legal, but glue should definitely be a controlled substance!

Had the same experience with mescaline and with mushrooms when I was young -- too young.

Still, I don't want my son to experience it -- is that hypocritical ...

I could see where these drugs, if taken, by certain individuals could do irreversible harm and I am not sure there is a way to tell ahead of time who those individuals are.

But I agree with patron -- legalize pot. It is such a waste to lock folks up for that.
