Re: Sales

RACE also admitted that they've sold more in the current quarter to date than in the September quarter just reported.

It's obvious that sales to date have proceeded slower than originally expected but the key is that sales momentum is positive and accelerating, albeit from low absolute numbers. According to the CC, DGN is currently the most aggressive reseller, which is not surprising given that they've been working with the product the longest.

Marshall,

Nah, I'd rather know where those 24 new trials are, as that is where the 1 M ptoential sale lies!!!

- Got to go for the GUSTO here!!!

I think both points are significant. Ben said that the "sold" systems averaged 8 ports each, didn't he? So after the trial, these systems did not bare the immediate fruit of a significant sale. That's not to say they won't, but the trial systems are just that, trial systems, and the potential for a significant sale would come there first.
He also answered a question concerning employee relations that as a business owner I was hoping someone would ask. If key employee defections were a problem, then the red flag would go up. While he did say they had lost some engineers, nobody left that he felt needed to be convinced to stay.

When an analyst asked when RACE would finally break even, Ben declined to answer the question. Something about refusing to "forecast". Isn't the CC Ben's opportunity to "sell" the company to these analysts? And, as our lead salesman, why wouldn't he provide them with a forecast? Otherwise, how are these analysts going to be able to provide decent coverage, come up with their earnings (loss) estimates, etc? Also, Be There has been available for nearly a year, isn't anyone else concerned that we're only hearing about somewhere between 12 and 24 paying customers and/or trials? That scares the hell out of me, especially when each of the 12 paying customers probably only bought the 4 or 8 port system that they used for their trial.
Finally, if you're going to take the apporach of using a reseller, I'm concerned that's it's taking so long to get the resellers trained!
