Market share of Google's Android platform on the rise
Message 27281141

That's a 7 percentage-point jump [for Android] from the average for the preceding three month period ending in November...Meanwhile, market share for Apple's iPhone has remained essentially flat

The Android pig squeals "We are open, oink, oink, oink".

iggyl,

Google gives away their OS for free, and it has grown more popular than iOS with no end in sight. The manufacturers have embraced the platform. iOS is closed in every aspect.

This competition is good for consumers, is it not?

It would seem the only ones to be offended could possibly be the Apple iOS fanboys who have seen their spartphone OS rapidly move into second place and now are predicted to wind up in third in short order.

This is all good for us consumers.

Is it really that annoying to live in the margin, to get bug-ridden, afterthought, second rate second tier applications, and inferior development platorms? Or is it just watching this coming, like a slow motion car accident right before your eyes, simply more than you can handle? I thought Apple owners were used to this and had accepted it already as a way of life. It was just the price for being cooler than everyone else.

Or is it the inevitable decline in shareholder value that accompanies this that bothers you?

Just curious,
