>>But if it is true that VSGN is the leading supplier of CORBA related tools, and if their product is being licensed by quite a few players (read BORL competitors) then wouldn't this put BORL in the drivers seat. For those competitors that don't want to be reliant on BORL, won't they have to find a competitive product or develop it themselves. And as CORBA becomes more widespread, the licensing revenue should greatly increase. And if these competitors are using VSGN, won't this give BORL insight into every CORBA install out there?

Correct. VSGN is middleware, BORL can take it and create the tools to build "application Servers" that utilize all these technologies. VSGN has the bridges between CORBA and DCOM. BORL can concentrate on providing the tools to build the next generation applications that everyone wants but can't build themselves.

HWP dumped their own homegrown ORB for VSGN, same with SUNW.
ORCL and SGI have signed on. Everyone now needs good development TOOLS.

BTW $0.00 debt is very important. Also, VSGN has a crack sales group
that has the inside to IS development groups, where the big $$$ contracts are to be had, v.s. the $99 off the shelf packages.

I think BORL is getting a sweet deal. I would prefer the $$$ not BORL.
