Cowan said the GTE "bone" was small potatoes after all the hype for most of this year. Financials still shaky. ADSL not yet "ready for prime time" as ILEC dragging their feet.

AMTX and WSTL in 1996 were going the conquer the world in 1997. HA.

We're starting to see this isn't a slam dunk. WSTL is a very LT hold now.

It seems to me that the street wants to value WSTL same as AMTX around 400M which is pretty stupit to me. The street has no clue of what's going on with technology, they are a herd of sheep following each other.

While WSTL and TXN have a... whatever... why didn't TXN buy WSTL also if the combined Westell/Amati was such a fantastic combo? Frankly, I see the deal as a disappointment to WSTL mitigated marginally only by the TXN/WSTL agreement. Although I haven't read the TXN/WSTL agreement, I'd bet it was written only to molify WSTL and put a nice spin on things, but is light on the kind of rock-solid commitments that indicate true belief in the value of WSTL. Anyone read the agreement yet and have comments from other than the spin doctors?

Bill. I couldn't agree more. What does Cowen know that we don't?
I listen to CC and thought that it was extremely positive.

"WIN, WIN, WIN"???????????Street doesn't seem to think so!

Westell just lost the relationship with Siemens, the very promising VDSL relationship with NEC and of course the ownership of Amatis intellectual property. I think the people who see the breakup of the AMTX/Westell merger agreement as a positive underestimate how much future potential really Amati had. With its new relationship with TI Westell is in a better position than it was before the Amati merger agreement but it is now back to its former status of a equipment manufacturer that will have serious competition from Alcatel, Siemens, Fujitsu and a lot of other would be contenders.
