Ellen, although there is some ramp up time involved with switching
out programmers it isn't impossible or even difficult. Most of the recent
advances in software development have improved this situation
greatly.

For exmaple, in the day of assembly language programming it was
well nigh impossible to get someone on line and productive if they
weren't involved with the product from the beginning. Today with
things like C++ and java we are in a different world. I came on to a
new project 2 months ago that has been running for almost 7 months.
With no prior knowledge of the project I have been productively working
on some pretty core pieces now for 6 of the 8 weeks.

Of course a programmer who wrote the code himself might have been
faster because he knew it better, but it is getting easier and easier for
someone else to step in and pick things up... especially with coding
standards and such that are becoming prevelant in the industry.

I was going to send you email but it looks like you don't have your
address posted. I think I still have it somewhere but drop me a line
if you haven't already read over this message before I edited it! :-)

<<I heartily agree with this. My brother is a programmer and he is the only one who
works on the programs he has created.>>

Dear Ellen,
With all due respects.
We are talking about a company with 10 - 15 clients ( CEO said he didnt know exactly how many and its a wide gap bet 10 and 15 )
And plans to grow to 24 mil with at least 71 clients Ellen.

I wished ceo was a software guru with 6 engineers and 3 support and 3 sales like YHOO started out.
Thats all Ellen.
The picture has to fit in some how.
Joe

1. A freind of mine works for a software company. I know they have alot more staff in non-engineer positions than engineer positions.

2. Titles are cheap way of compensating employees when money is tight.
I doubt all those people are really managers. What about sales staff. Someone needs to be running around the country selling the product.
