We have been fed a bunch of BS...........mostly coming from the GOP.............that if you work hard, you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps and go from rags to great riches in a life time. That is mostly not true.

That did work for those in our great coastal port cities in the post WW 2 and had little to do with the GOP other than help enhance credit juiced housing bubbles twice. Most all my relatives up north did quite well. All it took was a positive spirit, hard work, live below your means and most importantly buy your own home along with a couple of rental properties while prices were outrageously affordable in the 1950's and 1960's in good areas that didn't go downhill in subsequent decades.. That was a rarity I think they still can't comprehend given the struggles I see of our younger generations here in Florida and probably the same in much of middle America, small town America and the south.. High unaffordable RE prices is a double edged sword in the end but living in a place where you are constantly stuck in neutral or a constant roller coaster isn't helpful either..

And Obama is the man to make it happen. He understand better than you how important good jobs are.

Ted,
pls read the article I posted RW on Obama and Congress' recent Jobs Act. These guys are all clowns. They think jobs are created by loosening regulations. Decisions like getting rid of the tough mark to market FASB rule and now this cesspool of a Jobs Act are attacks on regulation, thinking that giving crony capitalists even more room to maneuver is a recipe for more jobs. Nothing could be further from the truth.

You guys talk a lot about how the GOP is full of idiots because they want to destroy government and regulations so they can act with impunity. But then when Obama loosens regulations, does not faithfully execute his office in prosecuting the criminals, and sweeps all the wrong doing by banks under the rug, you all give him a pass.

I am one of the few who have been steadfast and consistent in this one theme. We need strong regulations. We need a small, but effective government that is willing to do the hard work of prosecuting the criminals and putting them in jail. We need a President that is willing to confront the crony capitalists and their fundamental corruption, not just sweep the issue under the rug in the interests "moving forward, not look backward".

In short, we need fewer wars, a smaller war machine, but MORE financial regulations and a larger corporate governance regime. This Jobs Act isn't a jobs creator. It's a license for crony capitalists to loot even more from the carcass of our economy.
