It's interesting how many of the major developments relating to a corporate's internal networks tend to point toward Data Race's technology as being the most logical method of remote access going forward.

In the past the data network was just that and the office PBX network was alone too. As we see these two networks combining into a unified system it's easy to imagine how the plain old data-only dial-up modem remote systems could be declared obsolete.

In the past we've been using plain modems to remotely access the data and there have been a few offerings from people like Lucent that could supply a remote PBX terminal over an ISDN line. BT combines both of these remote capabilities and over a standard dial-tone POTS line at that.
