Pawlenty's dropping out of the Primary is a negative as I see it. There were others who stayed and participated making Romney stronger as they vetted him.

If Portman has enough influence in Ohio then Romney could go for a younger person-------regardless
we don't need an unseasoned man or woman in the VP slot.

Romney's vetting of the VP possibilities has to include strategy as the VP selection could be the determining factor in consolidating the GOP vote and bringing in the independent vote.

As for Pawlenty, I would bet on him being in a Romney administration

I would choke if Romney chose Pawlenty. The guy was a dishrag in the primaries. We need an equally viable VP candidate that can potentially run and win in 2020 after a Romney two termer and keep up any momentum generated.

santorum and howard dean have different political beliefs, but they have about the same biting-dog personality. i find listening to santorum ideas about as scary as listening to howard dean bark out his ideas. why santorum draws interest from republicans is not well understood by me.

It's not just a matter of chemistry. I think Romney has Santorum's voters; Obama is unifying factor that way, if in no other. Romney needs to reclaim the independents who voted for Obama last time. Santorum is not a big help there. I'm hoping for Paul Ryan, but I'm guessing it will probably be Rob Portmann.
