Zita,

is there any way you can divide the run, with maybe a piece of wire fencing?

Or.... can you let the other hens into the open garden while while you give the run over to the chicks?

If you take the chicks away from her, maybe she will go out more often.

We kept our chicks in a wire cage dog crate with a heat lamp to keep them warm until they were big enough with feathers to stay warm on their own.

I saw a guy in the northwest who had a moveable chicken shed with no floor.

Each day he would move it, and the chickens would have fresh ground and the ground he moved it from was now well fertilized.
