Maybe they would rather sell the higher profit new iMacs and they knew that given a choice people would be buying the older iMacs in droves before they disappear?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that statement.

I just looked at MacMall, MacConnection and PowerMax, specifically for the 27" iMac being phased out. They're gone. PowerMax showed 10 available. The other two? Nada. Zip.

I wonder about that. Where did they go? Did Apple just quietly let them run out just before the announcement, and nobody noticed?

I know I will not be buying any more nanos, which is insane really. I would certainly buy another one when my current one dies. One exactly like it for the same price, even if the tech advances. I would do this for another 10 years probably. The form factor of the old one is right. It would be even more right if they did one thing: move the input jack.

The form factor on the new one? Useless.

I may just yet buy another one to stash away but... lithium batteries don't last forever.
What's wrong with the form factor on the new Nano? It seems very similar to the old one.

Maybe I'm thinking of a nano that was more than one generation ago.
