When COMS earning estimates were lowered to 9 cents a couple of weeks ago the stock was trading at about 31 or 32. The day the earnings revisions of 9 cents was released the stock went up. Depending on what the inventory charge is we may hold in this area.

craig, I want to commend you for posting nothing about this debacle, since it happened. You made a great call. I was fortunate to dump cs and coms near there highs since Jan. Totally dumb luck. Just couldn't figure out how to play the networkers other than buying more csco. Will csco be the only survivor? gene

My apologies if I missed messages concerning this, but to what extent is the earnings shortfall a 1-quarter anomaly? My impression is that modem sales will continue to disappoint 3Com longs, and that a clear picture of 'normal' earnings are not discernible from the recent news. What % of 3Com's profits were expected to come from modem sales? And will we be able to tell from the Q2 report what 3Com would have earned had they not previously built up inappropriate inventory?
