Good analogy, Pancho. It reminds me of another one...I think this was a critique of TA: something about trying to divine a logic to, and guess future movements of, a long pole that is sticking up through the open roof of a barn and mysteriously moving in different erratic patterns. It turns out that the pole is tied to a cow wandering in the barn and its movements are truly random...

Good analogy. But is the market a random process?

I'll say no to that question, but often the factors pushing the market around are so complex and varied that it appears to be random.

BTW, any opinion on PNDA?

Pancho,

Nice example about standing in the room trying to catch the candy in the basket.

It even works when you extend it: if you have a good way of predicting where the candy will drop, you can win the game. But a lot of people just scurry over to where the candy last dropped, as you say. This is provably just a waste of energy.
