Herb,

In my opinion, if that was his goal he was unsuccessful. I think Steve said it best in his post yesterday, that even if you are an engineer - you still need to have a good working knowledge of the specific hardware and software. All of the technical discussions here are more focused on generic FC issues or public data known about manufacturers' equipment.

The enitire sequence of events is interesting though, especially the series of posts immediately prior to these posts disappearing from both the Ancor and Brocade boards in mid September.

I also maintain that the engineers in this field, focus on issues that are far too esoteric (like jitter) for SI threads. I base this on the fact that I am on some of these listservs and some of the questions I have asked here on technical topics have gone unanswered.

Herb,

<<What are the chances that ar needled the techies on this thread in order to get technical information for Brocade about Ancor matters which otherwise would have been murky?

Why has the SI thread for Brocade been totally dormant since Oct 14th? This firm which is seen as so professional about pr, does not seem to place any value on the SI forums in order to promote itself.>>

This is something that I have been thinking about lately. Perhaps the free exchange of information that some of us long-term ANCR bulls have attempted to create here has actually been detrimental in some ways. Obviously the shorts and nay-sayers are using this thread as a contrary indicator of sorts. They have also been successful at forcing some of us to have second thoughts about our ANCR investment, despite what most of us view as significant improvements in their situation. It seems clear that they monitor the thread closely and post negative messages on any rallies.

It is also possible that Brocade is using some information gathered here to their own competitive advantage.

I don't know what the answer is, but I'm tempted to be a little less free with information here. Let the shorts and nay-sayers sweat it out for a change. Those of us that are long-time ANCR holders, know the situation, both the good and the bad. We can still communicate in private about sensitive aspects, and use this format for more general, Ancor and Fibre Channel related topics. Just my take.

Craig

Gee Herb, I always thought that the SI threads were for the investors. Once Brocade goes public and folks get to worry about what is happening to there dollars I am sure the activity on the thread will pick up. As far as company postings. First, when I see someone say they are from the company I become extra cautious, second I don't think companies should post on these threads. I want my companies to release information to the entire public at the same time, work on managing the company, and leave the Bulls, Bears and whinners to the treads.
