I agree that the Scandinavian models have a lot going for them, but their socialistic style shares some conceptual elements with Marx

You probably need to toss Marx and Ayn Rand into a slow cooker for a century and implement some elements of both to have an optimal system, which Scandinavia is approaching

Seems to me there is an arc of civilization that will eventually accommodate the advantages of all of these systems of governance

...and in our current guise we are seriously resisting the civilizing forces that are emerging in the developed world

But that is because of the greed based system that currently dominates our policy making mechanisms

The Republican concepts that obstinately resist progress of any form will eventually break like an overstressed dam

It is too bad that we couldn't implement the changes in a measured way, but revolutions are effective also
