Wholesale chicken prices are up about 12% since a year ago, easy to look up. Probably easy to look up why as well.

But do like the rest of the 99% MM, eat something else if you can't afford chicken.

However, the picture your missing when you post cheaper chicken prices from some other location and store is that it is not the ABSOLUTE PRICE we paid for the chicken that should concern you. It is the RATE OF INCREASE on prices over time that is the main point we should all be concerned about. She paid $3.50 four years ago. Now she pays $7 for the same chicken. That means we have experienced 100% inflation over 4 years. That's almost 20% annualized inflation on chicken. That $4 chicken from Foster Farms you posted...how much did that cost 4 years ago? $2?

Target is not a traditional supermarket. And who knows....your wife's memory may be faulty. That's the danger when you rely on anecdotal info. Bottom line: she's paying too much for chicken. EOS.
