What would Assad gain by using chemical weapons of civilians? I am concerned that we may be suckered into the removal of another dictator only to be replaced by Islamic extremists. It seems to me the Islamic Extremists may be the perpetrators of this horrible crime. They are the only ones who would profit by it. You are absolutely right and IMHO it doesn't call for Rocket Science to understand this, just a little bit of common sense and some level of logical deduction. So, I have some serious problems truly believing that Obama, Merkel, Cameron and the French would be that dumb, IMO they also know and understand this. Thus they must have a different agenda all together (for considering an attack), just don't know what that could be.. Anybody having a good idea? /Taro

Very good points, and I agree with them all. My point is that, while this mass 'genocide' (of sorts) is occurring, the American president is doing two things that are unseemly -- namely, talking about requiring a U.N. mandate in order to at least attempt to prevent thousands more deaths (it would appear that he believes the U.S. no longer has any power ... diplomatic, military or otherwise ... for good in the world unless we are working under the U.N. flag) ... and the fact that he chooses to spend five hours golfing during a day when so much devastation is occurring, and things are escalating out of control, is evidence of his own brand of unmitigated personal arrogance (not that we need any more evidence, mind you).
