Zyklon-B

Zyklon-B was already used in Auschwitz-Birkenau as a pesticide for

the fumigation of buildings crawling with rats and lice. This chemical is green, in the form of a crystalline pellet that
Zyklon-B used in Gas Chambers released lethal hydrogen gas when exposed to air. On the third of Septermber, 1941, Nazi scienteist, Karl Fritsch, conducted an experiment. He squeezed Russian prisoners into a few cells, filled the room with Zyklon-B pellets, and watched as they died almost instantly. Carbon monoxide was also used in gas chambers, but Fritsch believed this method to be far less effective. For the Jewish, the two kinds of gases ended the same way- an agonizing death (Lace).

The Nazi leader, Heydrich, ordered all Jews killed regardless of age or gender using small-scale methods such as gassing vans, hangings and mass shootings. The Nazis had millions of Jews in their containment and needed to find a way to diminish their numbers on a large scale. The Nazis had been experimenting with a toxic gas that could be used to kill hundreds of people in a short span of time. This new systematic method of killing on a large scale was called a gas chamber. The gas chambers would be used at all the death camps. But was first tested at Chelmno (Lace).
First, prisoners that were too weak were sent to the gas chambers. However, the prisoners had no idea they were about to meet heir doom. The Nazis told them that they would be taking a shower to prevent panic and riots. After separating the weak from the strong, the weak line would line up to "take the shower" because the Nazis had told them that "Cleanliness Brings Freedom." The prisoners would undress and hand over their clothes and hang them on numbered pegs. The Nazi scientists disguised the way he gas would enter the room as showerheads. This was made extremely effective using Zyklon-B pelletsfor mass extermination in the gas chambers in an effort to annihilate all European Jews (Lace).

The apparatus of mass murder in this building functioned, with interruptions, from March 1943 until October 7, 1944. The building was burned down on the day of the mutiny of the Jewish prisoners from the Sonderkommando.

Crematorium V

The Crematorium V building contained a gas chamber and furnaces for burning corpses. Thousands of Jewish men, women and children were murdered here with poison gas, and their bodies burned.

The bodies of Jewish and non-Jewish prisoners who died in the concentration camp were also burned here. According to calculations by the German authorities, 768 corpses could be burned in this crematorium every 24 hours. According to the testimony of former prisoners, the figure was higher.

At times, the bodies of the people who had been murdered were also burned on pyres in pits located near Crematorium V and the so-called bunkers.

The apparatus of mass murder in this building functioned, with interruptions, from April 1943 until January 1945. In connection with the operation intended to remove the evidence of their crimes, the SS blew up the building on January 26, 1945.

CJ, But, the use of chemical weapons needs to be discouraged. I wonder what encouraged their use in the first place. Plenty of people have been wondering why Assad would want to do this, and whether this was actually a ploy by the rebels to bring America into the conflict. I hypothesized that maybe Assad was desperate enough to do this, that the rebels were actually making significant gains. But that's a WAG on my part. And even if Assad came out of this "victorious," what then? He'll become the next Saddam Insane. All he needs is another "Bush" in the White House, and he'll end up with a targeting laser forever pointed at his forehead. Tenchusatsu
