Bentway,
I don't consider a cruise missile attack a war.
If it stopped there, then you would have a point, but it obviously wouldn't. You're just trying to avoid stating the obvious.
Simpy gets the play:
We already know why Obama is going to Congress. He doesn't want to own this mess despite all of his tough talk and his "red line" rhetoric.

When most of the public is against intervention, it's hard to see them blaming the House for any further atrocities that happen as a result of non-action.

Simplicity is pointing out that the media will likely make it front-page news for the foreseeable future, and that some people will fall for it. But I doubt many will.

I still wonder why Obama even bothers to try and "save face." If he wants to change his mind about the "red line," he should just do it. All this tough talk, especially about the president having the authority to act without Congress, is meaningless without any measurable backbone.

If your house were hit by a cruise missile, you'd think it was an act of war.

Susan Sarandon is revolted by you.

“Let us resist this war. Let us hate war in all its forms, whether the weapon used is a missile or an airplane.”

Me and a Pulitzer prize winning columnist:

washingtonpost.com

Kathleen Parker: Just a little bit of war against Syria

Waging a little bit of war is like being a little bit pregnant.

History and human experience tell us that neither is possible, yet we seem bent on believing it. Or, should I say, deceiving ourselves.

President Obama’s call to strategically strike a few targets in Syria to teach President Bashar al-Assad a lesson — and John Kerry’s assertion that this would not be war — should give everyone pause. What would we call it if another country fired missiles our way?
