Ted, I don't approve of what the Republicans are doing. It's all a political stunt, and ObamaCare isn't going to go away that easily.

It isn't going to go away period. That ship has sailed.

However, I'm not going to complain that loudly over what the Republicans are doing because the whole government "shutdown" isn't actually affecting the country that much. Sure, lots of tourist attractions have to be closed and gated off, but most people blame both sides for that, which suits me just fine.

Wow. You are the male version of Mean Girls. There are hundreds of thousands of federal employees who are not working and won't be drawing a salary this week. Their lack of employment will hurt the business community. We have a hurricane brewing in the Gulf, FEMA has been furloughed. There are thousands of FAA safety inspectors have been furloughed. Just to name a few of the impacts this shutdown is causing. And lets not forget how this looks to the rest of the world........but you think this is no big deal.

As for Obama, he would do better if he just shut up and let the Republicans simply implode. Of course, Obama can't keep his mouth shut because he has an incredibly thin skin.

All Obama is doing is giving Rs more rope to hang themselves. And gratefully, the Rs are grabbing the rope eagerly with two hands.

Ten, think about this for a minute. The law was not legitimately enacted. The "gut-and-amend" procedure that was used clearly was intended to defeat the spirit of the Origination Clause. They changed the Senate rules to get it through. They paid bribes to numerous senators. It was as close to criminal as one can imagine. This bill will be litigate for a decade or more. And a majority of Americans do not want the legislation.

Yet, you expect the House to sit back and take it? The House has leverage now and they damned well need to use it.

It is the prerogative of the House to fund or not fund the legislation. Intransigent Democrats have forced their hand.

I think these House Republicans are absolute heroes. They are saying, "to hell with the politics, we're going to do what we have to do." And the two House Dems who voted with them are as well.

They recognize that it is now or never. Just as with Medicare, once you get all these people getting their handouts, it will take the country down before you can fix it. Far better to take the political pain now.
