Strictly an unscientific observations> Banks in China always see cash run this time of year. I think it is more than usual because many wealthy Chinese are taking money out and leaving China. The U.S. is their top destination. Restrictions are more than expected this year. Just my take from some articles I've read. RDK>

HSBC tried to limit withdrawals over 3000 - you had to give them a reason to get your money.

It was met with outrage and they stopped it after a day.

By "Those guys", I meant Chinese banks.

It seems to me they have a big supply of bas loans. When that happens you don't want to give up your cash to a bank that is going broke with your money.

Seems similar to what GS and GE did with Buffet - find solid money and survive at a cost.

Not sure but thinking that may be what's going on.
