I think the military also draws from small towns, where the kids from working families see no escape, except the military. Tens of thousands of small towns, all across America.

It's a dangerous ticket and dehumanizing for those who don't want to go, but have no choice. The great equalizer is education, not joining the military. But that's not the intention. The intention is to create slaves to die for US Corporate interests. It would cost a similar amount of money to give those in the ghetto a scholarship to a State University, along with a dorm room and a meal plan as a private salary in the military. Many in the military, of course, don't make it to class and get the opportunity.
