This once was Connie Mack's district. Then Katherine Harris of hanging chad fame, and 2 more R's. Hard for a Dem to win.

John; Sink outspent Jolly by 3 to 1 - so money sure wasn't the issue. Jolly as a "lobbyist" one would think would almost guarantee a loss - so personalities is not what defeated Sink. ............Might that mean "issues"?

Of the issues, ACA is of course one. Not much to do about that one now other than to work really hard to fix it's weaknesses and make it work so that Americans fall in love with it. Enough fall in love with it. Democrats also need to move away from this idea of "redistribution". Krugman and idealistic liberals may be right that morally it is the right thing to do but to others it is un-American. I believe the elections going forward are going to be a struggle of ideologies. Maybe they have always been? But today, right now, more so.

I can't tell you how much I disdain the thinking that all we have to do is tax people more and throw more money into safety nets and all will be great. Throwing more money at safety nets has been going on for a long time now. Working people who pay taxes deserve that their tax funds are spent wisely. They also have that right to say this isn't the moral road we want to go down. Do you know what I'm trying to say here? Pragmatism not idealism. We have major things that are way more important - such as GW.
