You are welcome to go with Facebook....I'll settle for a FDIC insured account, with a local bank.

Has not the BItcoin fiasco learned you anything?

Cyber Currencies are about as useful as a screen door on the bottom of a rowboat.

"it would provide remittance services in which migrant workers send money home to their families."

Rubbish I say....there are plenty of ways to transfer money from country to country right now. Citibank has real offices in about 145 countries.

But then again drug dealers are always looking for a way to move money around , (unobserved) since the Vatican Bank has tightened up the rules.

Swipe fees are the concern of the local merchants. Its all built into the price of goods and services.

Hi Kirk.....something to mull over about Facebook and Ireland.

Why start this thing in Ireland??? Could it be lax banking rules? That in it self should be a big red flag.

Now drug dealers and money launderers will applaud this situation. Facebook could find itself caught up in a Federal money laundering probe.

I see no upside to this matter for the average Joe. Now Facebook may have found some financial niche to exploit for their benefit......but I have no doubt that its not to help ordinary working people.

I say stay clear of the whole mess.
