yeah, I got the idea when I was in Maui last year and rented a SUV from Hertz rather than an econobox from Alamo...

In the past, you rush to get luggage then catch the shuttle to Alamo and wait in line as a few attendants handled the planeload of people wanting low cost autos.

Hertz had the same number of workers but they also had video checkout. I was going to go with the human but another human directed me to the video and was there if I had any trouble so I gave it a try. It actually went faster than an in person exchange... maybe less pressure to upgrade insurance, etc. but it made me think how they can easily load balance small airports all over the country this way with more skilled workers but in cheaper (than Maui or CA) places to live.

Google will eventually replace bus drivers, truckers, taxis, etc. with self driven autos.... Those who don't learn people and learning skills to add value are really in a pickle.... (note I didn't say a college education is a must... it is just another way to extract government dollars to the pockets of special interests..... another topic.)
