Hey Bob....quit making excuses for GM.....The ignition switch was crap.... a bad design from start to finish and GM tried to hide the problem by calling the accidents and deaths....."driver error":

This problem persisted for ten years while GM lied and tried to hide it. GM had no sense of responsibility. GM has a corporate culture of denial and blame shifting. Please read the auto section of the Detroit News, and the Detroit Free Press.to get an idea of the scope of GM's problems.

Now consider this .....Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Kia, Subaru, Nissan, and no other auto maker has that problem..

GM does have good lawyers that helped with the coverup.

Bob...how many people do you think died or were harmed by this problem???

GM has set up a fund of over one billion dollars and Ms Barra has said more monies are available.

GM has recalled 26 million vehicles this year alone.......

Ms Barra is on the right track.......if the good old boys at GM don't figure out a way to kick her out.

Quarter by quarter as GM takes charges for this problem (200 million last quarter)

By the numbers ...how bad was GM's performance.

abcnews.go.com

— 165: The number of people GM victims' advocates say have died in crashes related to ignition switch problems in small cars.
Now GM has got top notch engineers and designers...why were their views suppressed?

Was it a GM lawyer or engineer that said...."The lawsuits are cheaper than the fix". And that is why GM is in the sad state that it is..

Your excuse...
..the customer greatly modified it
Does not hold water for the simple reason that they also modified all other vehicles (Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Nissan....etc.) and only the GM ignition switches failed..
