Cary,

Thanks again. Now more questions.

Putting on your "futurist" hat, is there ANY REASONABLE possibility of a change in the foundation of the semi-equipment/ semiconductor industry that would cause revenues to drop long term? Can increasing bandwith cause a reduction in the need for processors? A cheaper way of getting the job done?

I am trying to see if there is anything else out there that can blinside an investor in this industry besides supply/demand issues.

TIA

Gene

Hi Cary
I follow both XLNX and ALTR what surprised me you took a position on XLNX in favour of ALTR as both stocks are beaten down badly, I am very interested to hear your reasoning.

I been accumulating ALTR since it hit 39 level and still waiting to buy more ALTR if I ever see it at 25 range as for XLNX I personally like the stock but prefer to get in at 23.

Thanks

ReI have suggested buy levels of 25, 20, and 15 for AMAT.

Cary,

Why do you think we are headed to these levels? At 15, it's only $8 (pre-split) from its 96 low and we are 1 year closer to the 300mm upgrade. In addition, eps has been revised significantly upward since then. For next year, most of the houses have eps for AMAT pegged in the range of $1.99-$2.08. This is only about a 4-8% decrease from the expectations in July. What has changed so dramatically that you believe we are headed, if not to then near, the 1996 lows? TIA

Regards,

Brian
