Merry Christmas to you too Bob and thanks for all your great contributions. If I know what people prefer, I try to wish them their holiday too.

I figure if someone gets upset after you wish them happy or merry anything that they
  1. Didn't deserve the wish
  2. Really needed the wish despite themselves and perhaps can learn from us how well we handle it by staying on message, cheerful.
I saved this one as it says in a different way what you said well.



FWIW, I wished people "Happy Solstice" as that is my favorite (non gift) holiday since it means the days are getting longer and spring windsurfing season is coming!
