<"SoundView cut its fiscal 1998 earnings estimates on Applied Materials to $1.69 a share from $1.99 a share. Applied Materials' fiscal year ends in October.">

Oh my freaking god...2 bucks to 1.69???? So the bottom on the stock went from 20 to 17 just like that? You see whats happening right? Look... forget about selling the techs and getting out. If this is true the whole freaking market is WAY overvalued. Buy puts on everything that moves and short the whole market!

Cary,

Thanks for the reference. Don't you think there is a bit of panic in the market and thus in the #'s for FY98? Morgan & Co. gave guidance of $2.08-$2.15 after the SEA crisis had begun. They are not ones to give overly optimistic guidance. In fact, there have been few times when they were way off. '96 is one of them, but I do not see this as a repeat of that year. Hopefully I'm not wearing AMAT colored glasses. TIA for any insight.

Regards,

Brian
